A global information hub for bamboo

One plant. Countless ways to heal the planet.

The Bamboo Projects tells the story of bamboo — the fastest-growing plant on Earth — and spotlights the Rotary Clubs and grassroots organizations turning it into climate action, clean water, homes, and livelihoods worldwide.

A plant built for a warming world

Bamboo is technically a grass, not a tree — which is exactly what makes it remarkable. It grows faster than almost any other plant on Earth, regenerates without replanting, and its dense root network holds soil and riverbanks in place while filtering water.

Because it can be harvested again and again from the same living root system, bamboo offers a renewable alternative to timber, plastic, and concrete — all while pulling carbon out of the atmosphere. That combination is why bamboo has become a centerpiece of reforestation and community-development projects on every inhabited continent.
